  • Position Summary

    The front-end developer, based in Shanghai China, will collaborate with developers, designers, stakeholders and others to create accessible, clean, well-functioning interfaces and interactions for NYU Shanghai's digital communications.


    The ideal candidate will show initiative in solving problems, and will work well as a member of a team. We are looking for a self-starter, who is eager to learn, and fun to work with. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker, who approaches projects with the end user in mind. They should be excited to work in an inclusive, fast paced, and energetic environment.


    The main responsibilities include:

    • Deliver top quality, mobile-first HTML, CSS, JQuery and JavaScript front-end code across a broad array of web projects for NYU Shanghai main website and others, compliant with accessibility standards (60%)
    • Field questions from university entities in a professional manner and provide assistance upon request (20%)
    • Keep abreast of the latest production, development and presentation techniques and technologies related to digital communication (20%)


    Required Education

    • Bachelor’s degree required

    Required Experience

    • 2 years prior work experience

     Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Experience with Drupal
    • Experience with web service integration (SOAP, REST, JSON, XML)
    • Excellent understanding of HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax and PHP
