Position Summary

NYU Shanghai, a new portal campus of New York University opening in Shanghai seeks a dynamic team member for the position of Accounts Payable Accountant to provide a broad range of accounting and procedural functions for NYU Shanghai and its associated entities in Shanghai, China.  

 

 

The Accounts Payable Accountant is responsible for all payments and expense of NYU Shanghai and related entities. The Accounts Payable Accountant’s principal duties include, receiving invoices, handling the work of reconciliation of vendor statements, matching invoices with internal purchase orders, preparing to mail or send payments or checks, making sure all information must be securely saved and monitored to ensure the financial information is accurate, dealing with vendors and employees of NYU Shanghai.

 

The main responsibilities include:

 

  • Verify payment supporting to align with company control policy and procedure
  • Receive invoice and perform the reconciliation of vendor statements
  • Ensure the proper and timely booking of all payments and employee expenses
  • Keep financial records updated and accurate
  • Maintain the daily ledger, print and distribute monthly financial summaries
  • Keep vendor files and file numbers updated
  • Making sure all the files are kept secure, not only the invoices, but also all other supporting documents
  • Make sure all supplier and employee payments passed to bank accountant on time
  • Liaise with related, internal and overseas parties
  • Closely work with the procurement team to ensure the appropriate process within “P2P” cycle
  • Assist employees with the WorkDay operating on raising requisitions and reimbursements
  • Chase cash advance of employees which aging is above 90 days regularly
  • Give training and instructions to staff about expense reimbursements, cash advance and P-card application procedure
  • Other ad-hoc assignment per required.

Qualifications

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • Accountant related qualification certificate

Required Experience

  • 2+ year’s accounts payable experience in Multi-National Company (MNC ) and/or international education business related

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of regulations governing WOFEs and/or international education business in China
  • Understand the contracts and essential terms related to accounts
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles including China GAAP and IFRS
  • Knowledge of PRC Tax regulations
  • Fluent English in both speaking and writing
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to work under pressure to support cross functional departments
  • High professional integrity, honesty and trust
  • Technically strong and commercially astute.
  • Knowledge of ERP Financials preferred.
