The Administrator for Business Lab & Technology is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of administrative, operational, and strategic functions of the Business Trading Lab and Business Teaching Lab at NYU Shanghai. Through working closely with faculty, staff, students, internal departments, and external partners, the person on this position plays a key role in ensuring the successful integration of technology into academic programming, facilitating lab infrastructure development, managing lab-related budgets, and supporting a range of events and technical services. If time permits and there is a good fit, the person may also be asked to assist with other technology-related matters in Business, including those related to both undergraduate and graduate programs.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Strategic Operations
Direct the planning, scheduling, and daily operations of the Business Lab, including system and terminal management, and software/database maintenance;
Lead strategic initiatives to enhance lab infrastructure and ensure alignment with evolving curriculum needs and university priorities.
Administrative Coordination & Communication
Serve as the primary liaison between the Business Lab and internal/external stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, IT Services, the Library, and external vendors;
Manage and maintain all lab-related documentation, reports, and user-facing communications;
Draft protocols and policies to guide lab usage, technical support, and academic integration.
Budget & Financial Oversight
Develop annual lab budgets, including forecasting for upgrades, workshops, and academic enhancements;
Process procurement requests, vendor engagement, reimbursements, and asset inventory in compliance with university policies;
Provide annual budget reports and analysis to supervisor.
Event Planning & Educational Outreach
Co-organize potential workshops, guest lectures, hackathons, and student competitions that promote lab engagement and experiential learning, per requests or initiatives.
Technology and User Support
Liason with the university’s IT teams to ensure stable, secure, and effective access to lab systems and software tools;
Provide or coordinate training for students and faculty on lab usage, trading platforms, simulation tools, and other relevant technologies;
Monitor system functionality, user feedback, and propose enhancements.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Technology Management or a related field preferred;
Minimum of 5 years of experience in lab or academic/technology service, preferably in higher education settings.
Skills & Abilities
Bilingual fluency in English and Mandarin;
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills;
Technical proficiency in both hardware and software systems;
Ability to manage space and projects, solve ad-hoc problems, and provide proactive solutions.
Knowledge
In-depth understanding of computer lab operations, equipment maintenance, and digital infrastructure in academic environments;
Familiarity with enterprise-level IT services and virtual computing environments;
Capability in event planning and budget management.
