Position Summary

The Research Coordinator will support the Office of Research’s research related functions and activities. S/he will be primarily responsible for supporting the administration of research grants, including pre-award and non-financial post-award support to faculty and investigators. S/he will also contribute to the research data related activities and other tasks as needed.

 

The main responsibilities include:

 

Provide support on the administration of research grants (85%)

 

Grant applications (pre-award and non-financial post-award) related:

  • Identify and track funding opportunities, post funding announcements, and maintain funding opportunity database;

  • Liaise with faculty and investigators to identify opportunities aligned with their research interests;

  • Assist investigators in interpreting grant program guidelines and agency requirements;

  • Conduct preliminary reviews of grant proposals to ensure compliance with sponsor guidelines;

  • Coordinate the institutional review process for grant applications and relevant agreements or documents;

  • Maintain grants content on the website and coordinate essential updates with colleagues;

  • Liaise with post-award colleagues in Finance and relevant Departments to support award acceptance, project set-up, progress tracking, and close-out.

Grants training and database management:

  • Track the status of grant application, maintain and update internal database;

  • Contribute to the preparation of grants related report;

  • Support to organize grant related trainings activities;

  • Stay current on funding policies, regulations, and procedures.

Support the research data reporting related activities (10%)

  • Support the research data reporting related activities as needed, such as collecting and providing relevant research data, and maintain internal database;

  • Contribute to the preparation of the annual research report, and other reporting requests as needed.

Other tasks as assigned (5%)

Qualifications

Required Education

  • Bachelor degree required, master degree preferred.

Required Experience

  • Prior knowledge or experience in research, research administration, and/or data processing is preferred;

  • International work/study experience strongly preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong organizational and time management skills;

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;

  • Demonstrate sound judgement and ability to maintain confidentiality;

  • Strong data processing, analysis, and presentation skills;

  • High attention to detail;

  • Strong desk-based research skills;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese;

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
