Position Summary

Julia D. Hur is a Global Network Associate Professor of Management and Organizations at NYU, affiliated with the Stern School of Business. This position is to recruit a part-time research associate who will work closely with Dr. Julia Hur onsite at NYU Shanghai. The responsibilities will be about 80-90% research and 10-20% teaching. As a research associate, you will work with the professor on a number of new and ongoing projects in behavioral science, social psychology, and organizational behavior. For the teaching support aspect, you will focus on assisting the professor in preparing course materials and organizing exercises. The position is expected to start in this Summer and is expected to last at least one year (preferably two years).

 

Dr. Julia Hur’s research lab is open to applicants who are planning to go into either academia (e.g., graduate school) or industry in the future. The lab has a great placement record which can be found on its website (www.juliadhur.com). For academia, students have received offers from the top graduate schools, including Stanford University, Columbia University, UC Berkeley, NYU, Northwestern University, University of Toronto, INSEAD, NUS, etc. Especially, if you are interested in applying to PhD programs in Management or Marketing, the lab provides you with great opportunities to get the relevant research experience.

 

This is a part-time position with an expected commitment of 24 hours per week. Candidates must be Chinese citizens (including residents of Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan).

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature review;
  • Assist data collection and analysis;
  • Assist lab research and meetings;
  • Monitor and grade assignments and examinations;
  • Prepare and revise course materials and exercises.

Qualifications

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Required Experience

  • Candidates would be familiar with statistics and econometrics. Experience with some of the relevant software to conduct statistical analysis (e.g., Excel, R, STATA).
  • Previous research assistantship experience is preferred, but not required.

 Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Candidates should feel comfortable in reading academic articles in Social Science (e.g., psychology, sociology, economics) and writing academic papers in English;
  • A strong quantitative background with solid skills in math, data science, and computer science would be a plus;
  • Candidates should be physically located in Shanghai in Spring (January 2026 – May 2026).
