Position Summary

About the Office of Undergraduate Admissions

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at NYU Shanghai manages the recruitment and enrollment of both Chinese and international students. As the global campus of New York University, NYU Shanghai is home to a vibrant and diverse student body of 2,000 students from over 70 countries and regions. The office plays a critical role in shaping the future of NYU Shanghai by attracting and enrolling talented students who align with the university’s mission and values.

The Senior Associate Director of Evaluation and Strategy is responsible for leading the evaluation and selection processes for first-year applicants across NYU Shanghai’s International and Chinese admissions pathways. These pathways follow distinct systems: the Chinese pathway adheres to national admissions policies, including the Gaokao, HKDSE, JEE, and GSAT exams, while the International pathway follows NYU’s global admissions standards.

This position provides strategic oversight of evaluation and selection across both tracks, with a focus on aligning how institutional fit is assessed and ensuring consistency in admissions decisions. Key responsibilities include overseeing key assessments, managing evaluation workflows, guiding the shaping process, and supporting the onboarding of admitted students. The role also supervises two Assistant Directors and collaborates closely with the NYU Global Admissions Evaluation and Strategy team to ensure the process aligns with NYU’s overall admissions standards.

Additionally, the position involves collaborating with campus partners to gain insights into the student experience and ensure the selection of students who align with institutional goals. Flexibility in working hours is required, including occasional early mornings or late evenings, to support global recruitment and selection efforts.
