Position Summary

NYU Shanghai Library is seeking an enthusiastic Instructional Video Editor to join our Research and Instructional Technology Services (RITS) unit. Embedded in the NYU Shanghai Library, this unit supports technology integration in teaching, learning, and research at NYU Shanghai. The unit also works closely with its counterparts at NYU New York and NYU Abu Dhabi.

 

The specialist will be responsible for the production and post-production of a range of instructional video modules for both online and blended learning. Responsibilities include the development of instructional design modules and content in collaboration with faculty across the university, with a focus on the NYU Shanghai Mini Course Project. 



The main responsibilities include: 

Video production and post-production (50%)

  • Assist NYU Shanghai in developing instructional video production workflows, processes, and strategies for online learning. Plan, design, and produce instructional video modules, including storyboards, editing, and management of content and workflows, using the latest equipment and software.

Liaise with faculty and students (25%)

  • Liaise with faculty, students, and researchers in the development, production, and post-production of instructional video modules. 

Working with team and project members (25%)

  • Work collaboratively with other video editors and project members to ensure consistency and accuracy of the video production.

 

KEY TASKS

  • Plan production and post-production of instructional video modules, including recording, editing, and management of video content and workflows, using the latest software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro X, DaVinci, etc.; 
  • Conduct course-related research and planning regards the inclusion of relevant materials and content within online courses;
  • Work closely with technical staff, interns, and students in the production of content.
  • Work under tight deadlines, managing multiple projects. Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise, and deal with stakeholders in a timely manner;
  • Assist NYU Shanghai in developing video production workflows, processes, and strategies for online learning, with an emphasis on the use of current and emerging technology and techniques including day-to-day use of recording equipment, lighting, editing, and innovative software components, such as in-video assessment and video annotation;
  • Work closely with university faculty and staff at all levels in consultation, collaboration, and partnership on the development of innovative online instructional content;
  • Deliver training in video tools and services. Identify, analyze, and evaluate training needs; Arrange facilities and materials as required; 
  • Ensure technical competence through ongoing professional development; 
  • May need to work on weekends and evenings; 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Required Education

  • Master’s degree or equivalent video production experience in a related field plus experience in relevant institution instructional design, video production, or online platform development roles. 

 

Required Experience 

 

  • Practical experience in the use of video production and post-production technology tools and services for teaching, learning, and research;
  • Experience in dealing with multiple stakeholders through consultation and collaboration;
  • Experience in the evaluation of tools and services in support of online learning platforms
  • Experience in supporting information technology, technology training, and client service. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in using innovative production technology and methodologies in the creation of online resources; Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro X, DaVinci, etc.;
  • Previous experience working on online learning platform development is a plus;
  • Familiarity with audio editing software is a plus;
  • Portfolio of relevant work or examples;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to work in an international and cross-cultural environment;
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English and Mandarin;
  • Good problem-solving skills and time management skills;
  • Ability to interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, researchers, and staff;
  • Well organized, diplomatic, detail and service-oriented.
